Yüreğir is one of Adana's central metropolitan districts, lying east of the Seyhan River, which separates it from Seyhan district. It takes its name from Oğuz Turkish tribes who settled the area between 1250 and 1352; historical remains from the Hittite, Roman, Seljuk and Ottoman periods are found within its borders.
