Efeler is the central district of Aydın, named after the local irregular fighters (efeler) of the Turkish War of Independence. The ancient city of Tralleis, dating back to the 8th century BC, and the 18th-century Cihanoğlu and Nasuh Paşa complexes are its main sights.
