Zağnos Pasha Mosque
A 15th-century mosque in central Balıkesir, built by Zağnos Pasha, a vizier of Mehmed the Conqueror.

Completed in 1461, the mosque reflects early Ottoman architecture with its square plan, central dome and corner domes; it was repaired in 1902-1904 after earthquake damage. Parts of its complex, including a tomb and a clock tower, still stand around it. It was also the setting for important speeches during the Turkish War of Independence.
