The mosque is thought to date from the reign of the Anatolian Seljuk sultan Kayqubad II (1282-1298); according to some sources it was first built as a caravanserai and later converted into a mosque. Rebuilt in 1970 following its original plan, it retains its Seljuk-era minaret, decorated with geometric and floral tiles.
