Çerkeş lies on Çankırı's western border, on the Istanbul–Samsun highway and the Ankara–Zonguldak railway, bordered by Atkaracalar to the east, Orta to the south-east and Ankara's Kızılcahamam district to the south. The 16th-century Kemer Bridge and the Murat IV Bath, together with caves near Yakuplar village and the protected Nine-Brother Pine natural monument, are the district's highlights; it is also known for its honey and cookies.
