Çankırı Castle, whose exact construction date and builder are unknown, is a rectangular structure used through the Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk and Ottoman periods. Inside are a rock-cut tomb, traces of settlement and pottery fragments, as well as the tomb of Emir Karatekin Bey, associated with the conquest of Çankırı. The surrounding area has been landscaped as a walking and recreation area.
