Gümüşova is a district on the D-100 highway, 18 km from central Düzce. It was first known as 'Kışla' after an Ottoman-era military barracks built there; it is known for the Melen stream running through it and for hazelnuts, beech and walnuts typical of Black Sea vegetation.
