Lalapaşa

Lalapaşa, in the north of Edirne province, borders Bulgaria to the north and west. Conquered in 1361 by Lala Şahin Paşa, the area holds prehistoric dolmens and menhirs found in Turkey only here and in Kars province; most of the local population lives from farming and livestock.
