The castle, on a rocky peninsula facing the sea 2 km east of Eynesil, was placed under protection by a board decision dated 23 December 1994. Its exact date and builder are unknown, though current sources attribute it to the Roman period. Divided in two by an east-west wall running through its middle, it has a water cistern, and was partially restored in works completed in 2001.
