İzmir Archaeology Museum opened in 1984 in Bahribaba Park in Konak, continuing an older museum collection that had been housed in a former church building in Basmane since 1927. More than 5,000 artefacts are on display, including the terracotta Klazomenai sarcophagi, Hellenistic grave stelae and statues of Poseidon, Demeter and Artemis found at the Agora.
