Pazarcık

Pazarcık is a district 47 km from the centre of Kahramanmaraş province, close to the Gaziantep border. Excavations between 1958 and 1969 found traces of Paleolithic settlement, and the Kırklar Caves, 1 km northeast of the old town centre, yielded finds from around 3500-3000 BCE. The epicentre of the magnitude-7.8 earthquake of 6 February 2023 was very close to Pazarcık, and the district suffered severe damage.
