A twelve-towered castle of Byzantine origin on a rocky hill above the city.

Kütahya Castle stands on a steep rock above the city and dates back to the Byzantine period. Pentagon-shaped with twelve towers, it is built of cut stone and has a perimeter of about 3,000 metres. Guarded by garrison troops in the Ottoman period, the castle is partly standing today.
