Construction of the Great Mosque of Kütahya began in the late 14th century under the Germiyan bey Süleyman Şah, and it was completed in 1410 by his son Musa Çelebi. With its wooden-columned interior and carved mihrab, it is an example of Anatolian timber mosque architecture. A major repair in 1893, under Abdülhamid II, gave it its present domed appearance.
