Tavşanlı is Kütahya's most populous district, lying on the southwestern slopes of Mount Yaylacık. It is known for roasted chickpeas (leblebi) made by hand at home and exported worldwide; lignite coal mining in the Tunçbilek basin has also been part of the district's economy since 1940. The Göbel hot springs, 10 km from the centre, are its thermal facility.
