The Grand Mosque of Kızıltepe (also known as the Dunaysır or Koçhisar Ulu Camii) was begun under the Artuqid sultan Yavlak Arslan and completed in 1204 by his brother Artuk Arslan. Its three-aisled interior is crossed in front of the mihrab by a domed bay on squinches, and the mihrab and walls are decorated with finely carved inscriptions. Kızıltepe was known as Dunaysır before 1926.
