Alahan Monastery is a Byzantine complex built on a steep slope overlooking the Göksu valley, at around 1,300 metres. It consists of the West and East Churches, rock-cut monks' cells and a baptistery, and is considered one of the best-preserved religious buildings of Late Antiquity; it is on the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List.
