Malazgirt Battlefield Historical National Park
A historical national park protecting the site of the Battle of Manzikert in 1071.

The site of the battle fought in 1071 between the Seljuk Sultan Alp Arslan and the Byzantine Emperor Romanos Diogenes was declared a historical national park in 2018. The park contains the Malazgirt Victory Monument and the ceremonial ground where the victory commemorations are held every year in late August. Malazgirt Castle, dating from the Byzantine period, and the Malazgirt Museum, opened in 2021, can also be visited in Malazgirt.
