Kastabala is a Cilician city near Kırmıtlı village in Osmaniye's Merkez district, on the bank of the Ceyhan river. Occupied from the Persian period through Byzantine times, it was renamed Hierapolis under the Seleucids; its remains include a colonnaded street, baths, shops, a theatre and two 5th-century churches. On the hill to the northeast stands Bodrumkale, a six-towered castle built by the Armenian Kingdom of Cilicia. Visiting conditions may have changed since the 2023 earthquakes; check before you go.
