Tekkeköy

Tekkeköy, on the Samsun-Ordu highway, adjoins central Samsun. The Tekkeköy Caves, dated to between 60,000 and 15,000 BC, are considered one of the oldest human settlements in the Black Sea region; the district's name comes from a dervish lodge ('tekke') founded there by Sheikh Zeynüddin in the 13th century.
