The Great Mosque of Siirt, in the city centre, was built in 1129 in the Great Seljuk period. Its southern part has three domed bays side by side, the middle dome larger and taller than the others. The cylindrical brick minaret rising from a square base, with geometric decoration in glazed brick, is the mosque's most striking feature. Its 13th-century wooden minbar, made in the kündekari interlocking technique, is now displayed at the Ankara Ethnography Museum.
