Oylum Mound
One of the large mounds of the Kilis plain; a settlement thousands of years old, still being excavated.

Oylum Mound lies about 7 km east-south-east of Kilis, south of the Gaziantep road, beside Oylum village. About 460 by 320 m at its base, it shows continuous settlement from the Late Chalcolithic to the present day. Excavations began in 1987 and are still going on; olive stones found here document 4,500 years of olive growing in the region. The finds are displayed at the Kilis Museum.
