Hemşin is an inland district of Rize, 19 km from the coast, bordered by Pazar to the north, Çayeli to the west and the plateaus of Çamlıhemşin to the south. It takes its name from Prince Hamam, who settled the region in the 8th century; bridges over the Fırtına stream and Badara Plateau are its natural highlights.
