Central Yalova is known for the Yürüyen Köşk (Walking Mansion) on the coastal road: Atatürk had the mansion slid on rails so as not to damage the centuries-old plane tree beside it, which gave the building its name. The plane tree still stands next to the mansion; the Yalova City Forest is another of the central district's walking areas.
